Richard Woodward — Computer Information Technology

Richard (Woody) Woodward has been at the Elizabethton TTC since 1996 when he was hired as a night Instructor for Computer Information Technology. At that time Woody was part owner in a computer store in Elizabethton. In July 1997 Woody was hired full time to start the day class. Previous to working for Tennessee Technology Center, he worked for 3 years at TPI Corp. in Gray, Tennessee as a Design Engineer.

Woody received his high school diploma from West Boylston Jr. Sr. High School. While working at a fiber optic company in Worcester Mass. as a Technician, he attended Worcester State College. Woody then trained in tool and die and computer operation and repair. In 1976 he moved to Maine where he attended The University of Maine. During this time Woody worked for a tool and die company and then started his own engineering corporation. He worked at night teaching Adult Education classes at Oxford Hills High School. He also taught Special Education classes at Harrison Elementary School in Harrison, Maine, in electronics, computer, and amateur radio.

Woody is A+ certified, a certified Lucent Technology Instructor, certified fiber optics instructor, IC3 certified instructor, certified Quality Control Technician, and an United States Patent Owner (Patent # 4,860,413). Woody has an Associate of Science Degree from Northeast State Technical Community College and is currently enrolled at East Tennessee State University. In addition to his instructional duties at TTC-Elizabethton, he teaches various classes for the Tennessee Board of Regents Online Degree Program.
