The Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton has launched a $1 million fund drive to provide equipment, student scholarships and expand physical facilities. The Tennessee Technology Center Foundation Community Board of Directors will oversee the fundraising effort.
"We hope to raise a local match of $250,000 for the construction of a new Health Sciences Building to house health care-related training programs, including practical nursing, nursing laboratory, certified nurse aide, dietary aide and dietary manager," said Dean Blevins, director. Today, classrooms for these programs are in multiple locations due to space limitations within existing facilities.
According to Blevins, centralization of these programs into a single building would free up space at the Herman Robinson Campus, 1500 Arney Street, in Elizabethton, to expand existing Automotive, Computer Operations, Diesel Powered Equipment, HVAC/Refrigeration and Welding training programs.
Donations will also benefit other full-time training programs in Business Systems Technology, Electricity/Electronics and Millwright Skills taught at the main campus, located at 426 Highway 91, in Elizabethton, Patton said.
The mission of the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton is to continue to be the premier provider of Workforce Development in Carter, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington counties.
